1964 Krohn White Colheita Port

Post by Marco D. »

Amber in color with strong wood aromas. Almost cognac-like in flavor with a lengthy (but slightly spirity) finish. On the second day, the wine dramatically improved. It picked up some nice honey, spice, raisin and caramel flavors -- and the heat died down a bit. Great acidity and only moderate sweetness. Kind of like a hypothetical blend of a traditional tawny and a Madeira? (92 pts.)

Sounds interesting. I plan to open one of these next month, so I'll keep in mind that it gets better on the 2nd day.

Only take a sip the first day. Much better the second day. Save some for a week later... if memory serves me, it kept improving. Drink this slowly.
