1978 Ferreira Vintage Port

Post by Richard Henderson »

I bought 2 bottles of this recentlly and I had opened one that was very disappointing.

This bottle opened on 2-24-06 was wonderful. Full fruity, ripe raspberry and mint, hint of licorice and the fine but not too hot brandy on the nose. Silky mouth feel , coated the palate, great flavors especially on the sides of the tongue. Great raspberry and ripe bing cherry fruit flavors. Long, nice finish. I would give a full 90 points.

The 77 Ferreira was my wife, Victoria's, and my virgin vintage port circa 1986. This 78 was very similar to that to us. Ferreira remains one of my all time favorite ports and my all time VP QPR.
