1994 Cockburn's Vintage Port

Post by Kurt Wieneke »

Double decanted, this has thrown a large amount of fine sediment. Once in the decanter, the '94 Cockburn offers up hints of prunes and cigar box. 1st night: Nose of ripe raspberry/wild berry followed by black cherry and black pepper flavors on the palate. After 5 hr decant, there is alot of spirit sticking out. Let's see what tomorrow brings. 2nd night: Mainly kirsch and heat, with a nutty edge to the finish. Spirity and one-dimensional. 3rd night: More of the same. An unimpressive showing, and I'm not sure this is going to improve with cellar time. 85 pts

I've only had this once or twice and I remember getting some VA on it. If it wasn't for that, I enjoyed what was underneath.
