1970 Borges Vintage Port

Post by goncalo devesas »

Last week I opened a Borges 1970 VP, once that we are speaking about a vintage with 37 years in bottle, after decanting it with a decanting machine ( by the way, extraordinary the accurancy and the finish of the ceremony, because stops in the perfect angle, without almost any sediment in the filter. The sediment in the bottle stayed above the bottle neck, like in a crusted Portwine bottle ).

I left the VP in the carafe for 2 hours before the service... the aromatics... complex, warm, a refined mixture of dry apricot and cinnamon...

The colour: like a 30y old, a golden brown.

In the palate, the first impression cooked pear and molasses, incredible smooth and watery taste.
Unfortunately it was impossible for me to see what will happen in the following hours, because the group was too anxious to drink it ! :winebath:

Goncalo, not sure if you score your Ports, but it would help if you would give us your best guestimate. Thanks! [cheers.gif]
