1995 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by Richard Henderson »

I tasted this blind today. I thought it was one of the great 1994's, maybe even a Fonseca. Great young purple color, great nose, of ripe black fruit with mint. Not hot at all great mid palate and lingering finish. Points make my head hurt [dash1.gif] but I will give it 96 points. This is really nice stuff. The guesses were all over the place from experienced tasters.

I had heard that this is as good as you say, and so bought a 6-pack to lay down. I haven't opened one yet, and don't plan to for at least 5 more years. Thanks for the TN!

Richard,

Did you have the 1994 or 1995?

I don't have either one. Another hpost at one of our blind tasting lunches brought this. I have some 2000 Vesuvio. I may get some of this 1995.

The 1995 is the real deal, the 1996 though, is the real "steal" of a deal. Both are wonderful.
