NV Quinta do Noval Black Ruby Reserve Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Had another bottle of this over yesterday and tonight with similar results to my first bottle. Plenty of blackberries, crushed pepper, and lots of tannins all wrapped up in a medium-full bodied Port. Certainly a bottle that is worth the price and I'm glad I recently bought some more...and I'll be getting more real soon.

Re: Quinta do Noval Black Port -- Reserve Ruby Port

I just bought a bottle of this yesterday and was impressed. There is a lot of quality here for the money. Loaded with blackberry/blueberry pie filling, plums and slight peppery hints. A bit a spirit noticable, but wow is this rich and concentrated for the genre. Lucious and long. The waves of fruit really impress. I see the tanky aspect that Andy mentioned previously... almost as though I was tasting a tank sample from freshly crushed grapes. Looking forward to tasting this over the course of the week. (92)

Like Andy, I just finished my 2nd bottle with consistent notes. A serious Ruby Reserve and high quality effort. It is going to be interesting to see how the sales affect/compare to the likes of Bin 27, Warre's Warrior, Graham's Six Grapes etc. given that it costs 10-35% more. For example, Bin 27 can be found for $12.99 in CA and the least expensive I've seen the Noval Black is at $18.
