2007 Ramos Pinto Vintage Port

Post by Glenn E. »

Tasted on 3/12/2010 at my house and then again on 3/14/2010 at Roy's. This is a combined note.

2007 Ramos Pinto Vintage Port

Color: Deep purple, crisp and clear. Very pretty in the glass.
Nose: A bit green, some dust. Something dark and brooding. Also slightly soapy. Was a bit closed on 3/12.
Palate: Ascending tannins. Good acidity. Mostly red flavors, and not as round or rich as the Q. de Ervamoira.
Finish: Nice tannins, some heat, and fruits that seem plain and raw. Medium length with some grape stem on the tail.

Oddly, not nearly as nice as the Q. de Ervamoira. It almost feels like Ervamoira produced the best crop in 2007, but instead of putting it into the Ramos Pinto they decided to allow the SQVP to shine. My scores were 88 and 86 on the two days, so I'll call it 87 points overall.

I prefer this to the Ervamoira from these bottles. That said, your TN is excellent and quite congruent.
