Unfiltered, bottled in 2005.
Dark but not quite opaque burgundy at the core with just a hint of brick apparent on the rim. The nose shows high-toned pomegranate and black cherry fruit along with a leathery aspect and some noticeable spirit. Medium bodied and medium sweet on the palate with smooth, tar-laced blueberry and cherry fruit up front. The fruit carries about halfway through the mid-palate and gives way to a peppery spirit that lingers through the moderate length finish. Not exactly hot in an aggressive way, but even on day two the spirit seems to be dominating the nose and palate a bit too much for my taste. Enjoyable LBV though lacking a little stuffing. I'd drink this one soon rather than cellar it. 86/87pts
