Roy,

I'm moving to Portland, OR. I'll be looking to start up a port club there once I'm settled in and I am planning to look for fellow participants here on FTLOP before anywhere else. Hopefully I'll find some takers! [cheers.gif]

Lamont - Seattle and Portland are only about 3 hours apart, so I'm sure you could get some of us to venture down that way for Port tastings!

I'd like some decanting time estimates on this wine, if anyone would be so kind. I'd like to use it for the "port afters" for our weekly Monday Night at the Movies sometime. (Tonight was TF20 and Nimrod.)

I must admit my no-buying for a bit again didn't last very long. I saw some 2007 Vesuvio Capela's calling my name and, well, I had to answer.

Recently I pulled the trigger on a bottle of 1863 & at the same time I also picked up a 1962 white colheita. There goes the Port budget.....

1x Sandeman 20 yr tawny @ $50 (restaurant)

2010-04-14 7:00 PM
Opened and poured to shoulder for air.

Slight edge to initial pour. Tasty though. Also gave samples to 3 people.

After dinner (1.5 -2 hours) settled down with the Gang of Port to sample this. Golden, pale, not much red in this tawny. Extremely clear edge.

Although clear and pale, still a lot of fruit. Nice acidity to balance sweetness.

Samples to 2 more people besides 4 G o P members at the bar.

This is definitely going on the G o P list.

I'm about to push you off the edge - my friendly wine merchant is currently putting together a example quote for shipping a 6 pack of Vintage Port from the UK to Norway [dance2.gif]

The good news is he told me today that the import laws in Norway were simplified last year so it is now far less difficult to achieve. The bad news is you will never have any money ever again

It's not really a slippery slope so much as an abrupt cliff.

Andy,

The 1863 was produced by N. de Almeida & Co. and the 1962 while colheita was bottled by Ramos-Pinto.
