The complete name of the product is the following, it was too long for the title text box. The producer, the Quinta, the Name of the Colheita, specification of bottling.
João Leite Moreira, Quinta da Seara d'Ordens, Poiares Colheita 1971, Garrafeira Particular
This Quinta is owned by the cousin of my brother in law's father. I think it is located in the north west region of the lower Douro. Normally most of the grapes are sold to Co-Op but sometimes in good years he is keeping grames from his best plots to make port for himself and a successful 20 years old tawny.
No bottling date was indicated on the bottle, but I guess it has at least 15 years in bottle and was probably not filtered due to the amount of sediment in it, almost as much as a 20 year old vintage.
A clear brown-amber color, a fresh and very complex nose raise from this glass with intermixing flavours of dried figs, nutmeg, sandal wood, butterscotch and orange peel. Sweet and smooth mouth entry on flavours of corrinthe grapes, dates, crême brulée, spicy nutmeg. Finale on brown sugar, lingering with retro olfaction of sandal wood. 18/20
