TN: 1938 Barros Colheita Port

Decant: None - Bottled 1999. Chestnut colour, green hint on the rim. Very dusty nose smelling of bruised oranges and marmalade. Burnt sugar and blackened toffee in the mouth with a pleasant vanilla creaminess underneath this. The acidity is present but balanced and not dominating as I find in many old colheitas. Not a great deal of complexity in the mid-palate. The aftertaste is a little one-dimensional, giving a warm glow and a single flavour. A technically correct wine, but not impressive when put into the context of the other wines shown on this day. 88 points
