TN: 1963 Royal Oporto Quinta das Carvalhas Vintage Port
Decant: 1½ hours - Another of the case of Adams own label 1963 vintage ports from Carvalhas, opened for the "Blind, Over 30 and one of Your Initials" offline. Pale, thin looking and with a watery texture, only a hint of red left in the light brown colour. Lots of orange and lime on the nose, with some very interesting cinnamon. More thickly textured in the mouth than expected from the appearance with some lively tertiary fruit and lots of spiced Seville Orange marmalade. Good, strong and long aftertaste, full of marmalade and bitter / sweet oranges leading to a lovely aniseed ending. By far the best showing of any of the five bottles I have opened from the case so far and - surprisingly - wine of the night against some big-name opposition. 89 points
