1985 Graham Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: Not Known - Bought by the glass from the Jalousie bar in St Lucia, drunk after sitting in the fridge for 20 minutes to cool down from 28C tropical temperatures.

From the nose this has clearly been oxidised and damaged by exposure to too much heat, smelling of slightly rancid limes. There is a slightly woody attack, but the wine has good depth and plenty of tannins. Sadly, the expected fruit does not show up to the degree expected - there is more evidence of heat damage. On swallowing, there is a pine-sap aftertaste and a very, very long finish of dry cocoa that shows what this wine could have delivered. An interesting experiment that was worth the US$10 for a 250ml pour! NR points
