Decant: 6 hours - Ex-cellars in October 2006. Very deep colour, the centre barely transparent. Slightly harsh on the nose, with a slightly harsh lemon and lime acidity. Deep texture, but with very little flavour. Some harsh acidity and plenty of tannin. Fruit flavours are well hidden. A dry and tannic aftertaste, with a thick texture and a bitter quince mixed in with some sour pear and licorice sticks. Good length. Requires many years of development to drink at its best.
Three days later, this was magnificent. The nose was fully developed, sweet and inviting and full of ripe fruit. The palate was soft and fruity but with a perfect balance of tannin and acid to match the fruit. The aftertaste was not huge, but was extremely tasty and long lasting. 94 points
