TN: 1991 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Decant: 1½ hours - Solid red in colour, opaque centre and a firm rim. Spicy nose of sweet nutmeg and pine sap, exciting and vibrant. Initially a little hollow on entry, but then a lovely balanced sweetness spreads over the tongue. Still noticeably tannic, giving a lot of pepperiness amongst the sweet blackcurrants. The aftertaste starts slowly but promisingly, but never quite deliveres on the promise. One to try again in five years. 88 points
