Decant: 1 hour - Bottle number 4622 out of 24,200 bottles, sourced from Four Walls Winery. A minor emergency decant through CostCo coffee filter paper, which worked like a dream and collected a large amount fo very sludgy residue. Lovely smell of Vesuvio blackcurrants came from the funnel when decanting. Interestingly, the cork was absolutely pristine.
Beautiful deep red, none of the purple of youth left but the colour was very solid. An attractive nose, full of blackcurrants but with lots of warm all spice and complexity, very inviting. In the mouth there was plently of fruit, lots of acidity and tannins that didn't dominate but equally never really went away. Quite flavoursome, but not particularly complex. The aftertaste was a little short and was never particularly dominating.
Pleasant enough, but not a blockbuster of a port and not one that I can see improving greatly from where it is today. 88 points
