Haven't had that many, but Taylor's 10 is what pops into mind [foilhat.gif]

I have not tried many (Quinta de la Rosa, Noval, Churchill, Portal, Otima, Taylor).

The Noval, Portal and Taylor stand out ... but my favorite is the Quinta do Portal.

I haven't had all that many 10-years either, but from my memories I'd probably give the nod to Churchill's. Taylor would actually be toward the bottom of the list...

Taylor would actually be toward the bottom of the list...
The first few bottles of this that I had were pop-n-pour, and I rated them lower than subsequent bottles that I decanted for 24 hours. The heat dissipated in that time and significantly improved the Port. Had I been ranking the 10-years based on the early Taylors that I drank, I would have put them at the bottom of the list also. Now, I don't touch the Taylor 10 years until 24 hours after opening.

Just my own experience ...

Kopke 10 year old Tawny, evidenced by the fact that we've gone through so many cases of it over the past 5+ years.

That said, all the 20 year old Tawnies we tasted on the recent Harvest Tour have convinced us that it's time we stepped up to a new 'house Tawny port' (well, Glenn may have also played a part in convincing us).

So I want to say :thanks: to the 10 year olds for years of enjoyment, but now it's on to your big brother/sister 20 year olds.

The Portal 10 year old is nice, and I'd also add Niepoort & Burmester to the list.

The only 10-yr old that I've liked enough to actually remember is the Niepoort. I've had several that I found acceptable, but only the one that I thought was actually good.

I'm partial to 20-yr olds... they're worth the extra cost in my opinion.

Delaforce His Eminence... (something more I can't remember right now)

To my recollection it stands out from other 10Y's I've had.

Last night I had coordinated dinner reservations with Peter Meek, where we both brought our families to the same restaurant at about the same time. I brought a 10 year old Pocas and a 20 year old Pocas for us to try. His gang of Port had a bunch of bottles open there as well. I had already consumed 1/3 of two bottles of wine so did not want to drink much more ... and only had a taste of his 20 year old Ferreira + the two I brought. I had also left a pour of each Pocas home to evaluate today for TNs. The Pocas 10 and 20 were quite worthy. The night before I had the Offley 10 year old too, which was good and interesting but not great. I really liked the Pocas 10 year old which was darker than the 20, FWIW.

I started drinking 10-yo Tawnies with the Graham's 10-yo. This was / is for me a quite enjoyable 10-yo.

I've also had Dow's and Taylor's 10-yo, but neither of them were as enjoyable as the Graham's for me. Taylor's was, in my opinion, even the least of these 3, but that is mostly because of the fact that (over here) the Taylor's is quite some € more expensive than Graham's or Dow's.

Nowadays, my favorite (and house) 10-yo Tawny is the one from Quevedo. For me this one is far better that all other 10-yo Tawnies I've had so far (and it is very reasonably priced as well).
Well done Oscar and Claudia  [notworthy.gif]

This is not easy ...

I have to pick five because it would be impossible to choose less than that:

Quinta do Portal
Ferreira
Pocas
Quinta da Romaneira
Niepoort

If I had to pick one..... Quinta da Romaneira 10 Year (bottled 2009)

What a stunning 10 year old Tawny and I only wish I could easily find it here in the States.

My favorites are:

Ferreira "Quinta do Porto"
Quinta da Romaneira
Quinta do Mourão

I also wish that the Romaneira was available here in the US.

I have often enjoyed the Noval 10 yr tawnies. Also the Ferreira 10 yr is a solid, exciting ten year.
