1992 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port

Decanted 7 hours. The color is still very dark and more in line with a 10 year old VP than an 18 year old LBV. This is just starting to show some secondary lavender, violets, and licorice one the nose yet still retaining some boysenberry as well. Slightly more than medium bodied on the palate, with licorice, boysenberry, grape, and an earthiness component showing up late. Solid tannins and with a lot of acidity keeping it fresh as well. This seems to be in a transitory stage where the secondary characteristics are now starting to develop and the primary ones have not totally gone away yet. Quite a treat and by no means at peak yet, this is an LBV that will reward another 5-10 years of cellaring before it reaches it peak.

I opened a bottle of this last week, on my birthday Dec 29. I have similar thoughts on the notes as yours. Nice mint on the bouquet. Good finish. About the same points. I might say 89. It was better after 24 hours.
