2005 Taylor Fladgate LBV Port

Post by John M. »

Purchased for $16.

Opened on New Year's Eve: T cork. Let stand open for 6 hours. A bit fruity, fresh but not as jammy as the Dow LBVs I've had. A touch of spirit. Aroma's were muted, slightly floral like blossoms.

At 30 Hrs had another glass. Did not take any notes but I recalled it was similar to the day before but the alcohol had settled down a bit.

Had to put the rest (2/3rds) in the fridge until yesterday--7 days total (must be a new record for me). It really held up well--not as much aroma, but still fresh fruit, a touch dry aftertaste.

For $16 a very good value in my book.

91 points.

I had this back in November. It is good, but hard to taste up against the likes of the Taylor's 2003 LBV which is my preference in a direct comparison. $16 though? A steal of a deal.

Hi Roy;

I had a 2003 in August 2010 and gave is poorer marks--88 points. The bottle I had felt shallow and tannins overdone. Funny how that works. :-)
