1991 Niepoort Vintage Port

Post by Monique Heinemans. »

Please keep in mind that I'm far from being an expert in giving tasting notes, but I think it's only fair to write one sometimes....as I do read and profit from yours...
Just after opening the bottle there was not much on the nose. I tasted some alcohol, some dark fruit and lots, lots of bitter chocolat, which dominated the wine to much imo. Medium bodied and a short to medium aftertaste. In the two days that have past, it develloped more fruit, mostly dates and plums and less bitterness. The aftertaste is rather short, but overall I think it's a pleasant port for drinking now.

A nice note, thank-you. Based on what you wrote, if I saw one at a good price I would pick it up, but I wouldn't go out of my way to look for one.
