30 Year Old Tawny Port by Feist

Post by Gary Richardson »

Opened on February 4, 2011 with intentions of drinking through the weekend.

T-cork, fairly well satuarted but intact. Not sure when this was bottled, but it looks like it may have been some time ago.

Color is a nice amber, with significant fading at the rim.

Typical tawny aromas. Initial taste of wintergreen (don't usually get this in a tawny), along with roasted walnuts. Some citrus undertones.

After 2 days, the wintergreen disappeared. Roasted walnuts became more prevalent, and now there is a nice marzipan taste. This is the first bottle that I have experienced this with.

This continues to be one of my preferred 30 year tawnies, especially since I can get it at my local wine store for about $50.

Overall score: 90 points.

Nice! That's about what I have to pay for a 20-yr old... I wish I could get a 30 for that kind of price!

The same retailer has the Feist 20 year for $30. I haven't gotten any, yet, since I am working through his 30 year inventory first.

I have been thinking about picking up a bottle of the 20 year, though. Might be interesting ...
