My wife participates in the ACPT every year, and conveniently there is a lively Port tasting group in New York City. So every year we plan a Port tasting to coincide with the tournament, and this was the 2011 edition.
1985 Dow Vintage Port
Color: Medium red, roughly equivalent to the 1970 and 1977. The color seems more appropriate for the '70s Ports and too light here.
Nose: Pruney.
Palate: Flavorful and pleasant, but lacking. A bit one dimensional.
Finish: Very nice - possibly the nicest aspect of the Port.
Score: 90 points. Possibly oxidized? Like the 1983, this one seems like it should have been better even though it was excellent as-is.
