My wife participates in the ACPT every year, and conveniently there is a lively Port tasting group in New York City. So every year we plan a Port tasting to coincide with the tournament, and this was the 2011 edition.

1997 Dow Vintage Port

Color: Dark, but not inky. Seems light for its age - swap it with the 1980 and you'd never know they'd been swapped because they'd fit better in the color spectrum.
Nose: Pretty closed, not much there.
Palate: Young - this one's a tweener. Doesn't seem to be in a good place right now.
Finish: Long and fruity, which gives hope.
