1947 Sandeman Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

1947 Sandeman Vintage Port - Portugal, Douro, Porto (7/23/2011)
An encouraging core of medium red-garnet, fading to light chocolate at the rim. Nutty, tawny nose; very lovely chocolatey fruit, cinnamon, and cherry on the palate. Not a lot of structure, and quite light, but still lively for its age, and still hanging onto some primary berry flavors. Pleasing warmth, with the spirit borderline but not problematic. Very long. Decanted for sediment, then recorked for 10 hours before drinking. Perfect cork, base neck fill. Oporto bottled. (93 pts.)
