1970 Barros Vintage Port

Post by Rune EG »

Received as a gift from a business friend on my 50th birthday 6 yrs ago. Had been in his wine cellar for abt 15 years before I got it, but unknown storage before that time. Noticed a few days ago that the cork had become wet, and decided to drink the bottle.

Decanted 7 hrs. Medium red colour, a bit cloudy. Slightly sweet aroma of red berries, and still some alcohol (too much alcohol at opening, but a good part faded away during decanting). Medium body, powerful, fruit on the way to disappear, alcohol still in the taste (especially towards the end). Medium length aftertaste. 85 pts.

I didn't want to pass judgment on this until I read your TN, but I was pretty certain of the outcome you were going to experience. However, you never know if you're not willing to pop the cork. So :thanks: for taking one for the team! :salute:
