Opening a special bottle for New Years Eve?

Post by Roy Hersh »

How about an 1812, or 1912 if you prefer young ones.

OK, seriously ... LBV, Colheita, 20 year Tawny or a Vintage Port ... please do share.

Just leftovers for me - I still have most of a Kopke 40-yr old left from Christmas due to the plague that swept through my house last weekend.

We'll be drinking a Warre 10 years Otima for aperitif and then a Warre 1988 VP for the chocolate cake [cheers.gif]
All wine would be port if it could...

It wasn't New Years Eve, but yesterday, we opened a Ferreira 20 (actually we had to open a second one as well) for Mike's (the other half of the Gang of Port) birthday, after 12 of us celebrated by going out for sushi.

(I got a magnum of Ozeki Saki as a party favor/delayed Christmas present from the sushi chef, which was quite a surprise.)

I hadn't intended to open any port this evening, but a minor port emergency caused a half bottle of Skeffington 2009 to be opened.

Being one of the best New Year's Eve ever, in terms of Wine, these were the ports opened:

Dow's Vintage 1945
Graham's Vintage 1966
Niepoort Vintage 1966
Niepoort 3 Gerações
Loureiro VV 1871
Quinta do Noval 1880

Amazing stuff, i would say superb wines. Really difficult to choose the best, but the Dow's 45 was just perfect and one of the best Ports i've ever had in My life
