10 Year Old White Port by Andresen

Post by Rune EG »

I have had this product three times. FIrst time when buying three bottles when it was released here September 2009. Did not like it, and decided to cellar the other two for a few years. Second time was FTLOP Harvest Tour 2010 where we had 13 differant ports when visiting Andresen, most of them nice and very nice and one which was really memorable (1910 Colheita). This 10 yrs white had my lowest score at that visit (80 pts). And now for the third time I pulled out one of the remaining bottles from my cellar, and again I was disappointed.

Bottled 2009. Decanted 2 hrs. Nice deep transparent amber colour. Undrinkable at opening due to heavy alcohol on the nose. A good part of that faded away after having been in the decanter. Spirit in the nose, and some oak. Smooth taste at the start, but then the alcohol is hitting, sharp towards the end. Medium length of the aftertaste. I am not entirely sure whether this product bottled in 2009 were as balanced as it should be. 82 pts
