1987 Quinta de Baldias LBV Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 24 hours - Purchased from Prastos e Costas in Regua. Bottled unfiltered in 1993. Deep red colour, slight bricking on the rim; 90% opaque. Nosing of dusty rose hips and a touch of redcurrant syrup. Balanced but hollow entry. Grows on the palate to a big flavoured, bitter quince and pomelo fruit dominated set of flavours; very dry and slightly tannic with lots of pine essence. Hot and acidic aftertaste which fades slowly to leave a long, dry and bitter finish. On the whole, enjoyable and drinkable but heading rapidly towards being dried out. Drink up soon. 82 points
