1985 Graham Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 2 hours - Deep and intense red in colour, 99% opaque. Fresh black grapes on the nose, minty taint but quite closed. Medium bodied, with a slightly watery texture. The volume of flavour grows on the palate, but has a harsh and acidic edge to it. There is lots of promise in the palate, but it is not quite delivering (perhaps the short decant?). Tannins are soft but present, fruit is plummy but struggles to dominate. The aftertaste is hot and is followed by a sweet, black licorice finish that has plenty of heat. This is a good port that is a decade from being ready. Guessed to be T85, T80, D91. 88 points
