Decant: 10 hours - An unknown bottle bought at auction from McTears in February 2011. The bottle was mid-shoulder fill and had been seeping slightly. On opening the cork was seen to be branded "SANDEMAN VINTAGE 1912" and the age of the bottle appeared to be consistent with this branding.
Deep brown - almost olive the rim - colour; the colour of a very old colheita. 40% opaque. Suffering from bottle stink, showing some characteristic cabbage over the top of some honey and over-ripe pineapple. Thick and rich in the mouth; smoky and sweet clover honey on the palate with enormous presence. Fabulous concentration with honey sweetness and acidity in perfect balance. Rich aftertaste, big and full of concentrated marmalade with seville orange bitterness - huge length. Terrific port and a real privilege to be able to drink this. 93 points
