1999 Sandeman Vau Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: Just Opened - From a half bottle bought from the Don restaurant, shared with Rob Coombes.

A rich red colour, with a solid centre; youthful looking, but not a baby. Subdued on the nose, but with some dry cherry showing. Lovely fruit in the mouth, soft but with some gentle acidity to give vigour; tannins are ripe and soft but give a pleasant chalky feel to the wine. The aftertaste is fruit dominated, but a little short. This is a lovely port, drinking very nicely now and likely to continue to do so for the next decade or more. 87 points
