Fonseca 20 Year Old Tawny Port
bottled 2007

Color: Tawny red, slightly cloudy.
Nose: Butterscotch, dried wood, and several nuts - hazelnuts, almonds, and walnuts.
Palate: Some oak, but otherwise just a generally fruity palate in a dried sort of way.
Finish: Nice, but a bit short.

Score: 91 points. This felt like the bottle had been open too long or something... it just didn't quite seem right. Still pleasant, and for $40 at Costco it'd be hard to beat.

Being open to long could have been the case, as this is normally a pretty darn good bottle. You've got to start drinking faster

Right here. It was only open for a few days. That said, I agree that it was showing a bit of oxidation and that could have been a provenance issue as that bottle came as a singular bottle to fill a case made up of a lote of 1977's. It was a 2007 bottle that had a ridiculous retail shop sticker showing $59.99. Must have been from Canada or something. It was opened as a cigar accompaniment and on this particular night, as a palate adjuster from the 1966s to the 40 year olds.

Only a couple of days? Hmm... yeah, that really shouldn't be too long for a 20-yr old. A 2007 bottling also isn't old enough for it to be an age issue, so you're probably right about the provenance. It was probably stored upright on the top shelf of some store for 3 years or something.

Currently hating my costco for only selling Otima 10 year and Bin 27. Of the few sips of this I had I'd say you were close to the flavor, but the finish on mine was long and I was also having it with a cigar.

Yeah, that sounds like about the right price for a bottle from Canada.

Todd and Andrew, come on down! The Issaquah Costco carries quite a few nice Ports and Trader Joe's is about 1/4 mile away with another half dozen Ports.

Yep! The had it last week, at least. Right next to the Kirkland 10-yr old (which is produced by Fonseca) and the Fonseca bin 27.

They also usually have Warre's Otima 10-yr old and Roy says they have Quinta do Portal 20-yr old though I've never seen that one.
