1994 Warres Vintage Port
Open for three hours, deep garnet with an amber rim, cherry, plum, almond nose with soft plum, cherry, licorice flavors, very well integrated with a little finishing heat that faded with time, some mulberry, violets, and mocha coming out in the taste with time, excellent now from 375 ml bottle, will not improve greatly from now but will last (in 375 ml size for 3 to 7 years), excellent and great now for current consumption, 92 points. I will drink the rest over the next four years. Not as sweet or strong as the other famous producers but very pleasant on its own (no sweet dessert as a side dish). Regards

Re: 1994 Warres Vintage Port
Jim,
Just curious as to why such a short drinking window? I've had this many times and it always has shown the stuffing to go at least another 25+ years.

Re: 1994 Warres Vintage Port
Andy-From the 375 ml size I have seen some ports mature much earlier and somewhat incompletely so I am being conservative on the good drinking time. It certainly could be different for others. I have sometimes wondered whether the cellar temperature was optimum but had no control over it (in ground bomb shelter my father put in in the 60s). I have had some instances of premature aging but not a widespread problem so it could be bottle variation. Regards Jim
