A nice light purple color, with poignant plums and red berries on the nose. Soft and ripe with lavender, plums, cocoa being most prominent on the palate. A soft and smooth finish rounded off a Port that was drinking very well at the moment and still has another 10 or so years to go to full maturity. I've not had a lot of mid-aged Offley VP's (post 1970's) and have mixed results with those I have had. This bottle though, I was thoroughly surprised with how well it showed. Sadly I didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time with this as I think it has the potential to show a bit better in time or with a longer decant.
