Magnum. Decanted 9 hrs. Checked development during first 6 hrs, but then there were some bitterness/sharpness towards the end. However, after six hrs it all changed to be an extremely nice VP.
Dark red colour with a light rim. No signs of fading colour. Deep complex aroma of fruits in a very pleasant way incl cherry and boysenberry. Medium to full body. Fresh, elegant, smooth, cherry, powerful, nice long tannins, medium to long aftertaste. A 35 years old VP and still very fresh. 96 pts.

Rune,
Did this have a new cork in it or the original?

Hi Andy!
The cork was new, so I guess it was re-corked recently?

Thanks. These were an ex-cellars re-release a few years ago after they were recorked. I've had these recorked ones before and the last time (about 2 yrs ago) it still hadn't totally recovered from being recorked and wasn't showing as it should at that time. Looks like its finally recovered and ready to go again. As I have some of these this is good news, or not...I was keeping my hands off them for this reason, now that may be a bit harder to do

Thanks for the note Rune. I also have a few bottles of this in magnum as well. I'm still looking for the right occasion to open one!
Re: 1977 Gould Campbell vintage port (magnum)
I have a handful of mags of this, all purchased up in Vancouver over the past five years. More than likely for gift giving as much as person consumption as I have lots in 750's too, which will likely show "some" evolution. Amazing the extraction of this VP!
