hehe might have been the new york taylor =)Glenn E. wrote:4 x 2007 Taylor Fladgate LBV @ $11.70 each. The grocery store near my wife's office was closing out all of their Port, and these were the only bottles left that were actually at a good price. (A very good price at that.)
Dear grocery store wine manager - $65 for Dow's 20-yr old Tawny Port is not a closeout price. Nor is $68 for a 500 ml Royal Oporto 20-yr old Tawny Port.
Given how outrageous all of the other prices were, I suspect that these Taylors were mislabeled. At least I solved their problem for them - they have none left now.

Given that the 20yr tawny is more of a sipping port and the lbv a drinking port, you might actually get a longer enjoyment time for your buck w the higher priced item than w the cheaper one!Michael T wrote:10x Fonseca LBV 2007. $19

A few days later, side by side, I seem to prefer the mid-palate on the Andresen. It is richer than that of the Ferreira, perhaps due to the lower acidity.Miguel Simoes wrote:Andresen 20 yr Tawny @ $41

Have you guys tasted this Andresen 20 yr?

Sandeman 20 y/o Tawny - had a hankering for a 20 and didn't want to go out to offsite storage to get something else.

8x 1970 VP from Amondio's (never heard from this producer. Anyone that has??)
Unfortunately, one box of 6 of the LBV had fallen whilst loading, and all 6 bottles were broken . So no 12 but only 6 bottles of the 1997 Niepoort LBV for me

That's horrible. But the good side is they were two six packs otherwise you may have lost them all.Gerwin de Graaf wrote:Delivery todayGerwin de Graaf wrote:12x Niepoort LBV 1997 (never had these before, I am very curious about this one! ), at an (I think) reasonable price of €15 a piece (@ auction);

Indeed. And you're quite right about the silver lining here (not loosing all the bottles) . And the auctionhouse that made the transportarrangement, already said that I'll get my money back from them (so I don't have to go through the hassle of getting it back from the transporter).Andy Velebil wrote:That's horrible.
