2007 Fonseca LBV Port

Post by Miguel Simoes »

2007 Fonseca Porto Late Bottled Vintage Unfiltered - Portugal, Douro, Porto (9/9/2013)
Finished a bottle of 2007 Fonseca LBV yesterday after opening it about a month ago (kept in a wine cooler at 64F).

Was surprised how well it still showed. Sadly, the tannins were mostly gone but the other components were largely in place. Still felt rich in the mouth, though the alcohol heat was a little more apparent than in a freshly opened bottle. Still showed a lot of fruit without being too sweet.

Score reflects my overall assessment of the 6 bottles I drank over the last couple of months. (93 pts.)

I tasted this amidst a flurry of 2007 LBV's over a couple of months and believe it was the highest scoring LBV from this particular vintage for me.
