Got this as a gift from a Rotary friend after he had been part of a port wine course that held I back in 2004. He realized that 1997 was a promising year and wanted me to have it. Actually the label is showing the logo of the auditing- and consulting company Ernst & Young as they apparently used this 1997 Dow LBV as a company gift that year in many countries. So I have kept it in my cellar for nearly 10 years for a special occasion.
4 hrs decanting. Pale / medium red with significant signs of brown. Powerful, complex and a bit heavy aroma of wood, sweet fruits like mango and also a bit citrus and alcohol. The aroma indicates more a vintage port that would be abt 30 years in stead of 16 yrs. Full body. Taste showing a lot of berries and wood and quite sharp towards the end. Probably on the way to be tawny-style. After these 4 hrs the LBV started to fall apart and to be dis-jointed with the result that we did not finish the bottle. Score is based on the port before it fell apart. 85 pts.

Re: 1997 Dow's LBV
Remind me to skip buying one of these if I run across a bottle. Thanks for the note.
