Dark purple, fine magenta rim. Blue and blackberry nose. Blackberry on grape..nice layers. Spicy fruit. Nice finish. Nice effort.

I checked my notes....seems like I agree with you. I have the 2001 and 2004 as being good with the 2003, 2005 & 2006 just a little lower (average).

I find these Dows quite nice and usually can be found for less than the better Ruby Reserves (I typically pay $14 to $16 including tax--but have paid as much as $19).

My Costco says Dow LBV and when the 2007 was on the shelf, I bought at least a case as "cellar defenders". I am not usually an LBV fan either. Then the 2008 came out and either I was sick of Dow LBV by that point or the subsequent release just wasn't as good. Previous to 2007, their LBV did little for me. Just basing my original statement on memory rather than notes. I hardly ever take written notes port; I rely on the FTLOP database. I know which members like the same stuff I do, or if they differ, I know how their tastes differ and can judge from there.
