1964 Dow Reserva Port (Colheita)

Post by Eric Menchen »

Has a funky vegetable aroma, a fair amount of alcohol, and faint fruit. In the mouth, this is a little harsh with some green pepper. It is warm in the throat. Overall, weak. 85 points.

Hi Eric, I am not trying to be critical, yet I would be grateful if you could help me to understand ... you clearly described this Port as imperfect (at best) with pretty negative descriptiors and then gave it a pretty decent score of 85 points. Then the 1964 Pocas which most at the table were fawning over, but you seemed to like a little bit less, scored a 91. I am confused and would appreciate further explanation if you don't mind.

I definitely liked the Poças better. My 85 here might have been generous.
