2011 Dow's vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

I have purchased a lot of the 2011 vintage ports, but not really tried any of them. So Emmy and I started out with the 2011 Dow, and there were high expectations in view of many journalists giving high scores. Well, all expectations were fulfilled. I am giving the highest score I have ever given for a vintage ports. 97 pts,

Decanted 11 hrs. Dark purple colour. Fresh aroma of flowers, tobacco, dark red berries and a touch of oak, Full body. Smooth, elegant, perfectly balanced, well structured with a nice level of acid, tiny bit dry towards the end, long aftertaste. Powerful in a way that melts well with the elegance. Extremely nice vintage port. I agree with those that say this vintage port can be consumed both as young and will also have long pleasant life ahead with great cellaring potential. 97 pts.
