FTLOP 9th Anniversary Party - Update 7/18/14

Post by Roy Hersh »

July 18th - 20th 2014 - in Sammamish/Issaquah, WA State ... come and join our Porto party and gala celebration!

This is our yearly weekend anniversary bash and it should be another great one. Events will be focused on a deep 1994 horizontal tasting on Saturday and likely if we have a huge number of bottles from a wide variety of producers, it will also go into Sunday. If not, we will have a separate eclectic high end Sunday Port event. Attendees from this forum or FTLOP subscribers will be welcome to join in the fun. The cutoff point will be June 30th, so there's 10 weeks to decide. If interested, make sure to let us know, by posting directly in this thread.

Saturday will definitely be held at the Issaquah Holiday Inn. Out-of-town travelers will be able to just walk up to their rooms after the event. Sunday, depending on how many people want to do a 2nd day of Port consumption, (also depending on whether we do another 1994 VP grouping or other theme) will determine the venue, which will either be at the hotel or my home. If it is really hot that weekend, we'll likely do it at the hotel.

Locals have plenty of glassware, so you'll only need to bring bottles along. We hope you can make it this year! [cheers.gif]

Updated June 14th: If we have more than 24 unique bottlings ... there will likely also be a Sunday afternoon tasting, so please do not feel you're limited to bring just one bottle.. [friends.gif] I've also made a list that shows how many other 1994's are out there and I am sure I did not think of all that were declared/bottled.

In late May, I will begin working on this particular weekend event in earnest. I have already reserved the room in the hotel.

The LBV tasting was deliciously wonderful and educational,(thank you, Roy) so I will definitely be at the Anniversary party!! Should I start picking out some '94 VP?

Roy, if there's still room, Phyllis and I would love to come up and see the WA gang and taste some delicious port. We have a couple 94's but we'll likely have to shop for something to bring.

UPDATED.

OK, we've maxed out the list @ 16 as I don't believe we will be able to have decent pours beyond that point ... and a waiting list has been set up in case folks change their mind or can't make it later down the road, which is almost inevitable for every tasting. So, please be patient, as cancellations happens just about every time.

I would love to come. Please put me on the waiting list. We may need to have TWO groups of 16. Possible?? I can bring Fonseca, Eira Velha, Quarles Harris, Graham's, Ferreira or others. Don B.

We will get into the particulars of the wine, when I get back from Madeira, but I'm happy to add you to the list. Thanks Don!

Roy - since we were too late to get an assured seat, we've gone ahead and spent our budget on other things. Please give our place in line to the next people and we'll try to make it up next year.
