1977 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: Not Known - From magnum. Deep brick red with lots of coarse sediment left in the wine. An odd smell - manure? TCA? Not sure, but certainly making the fruit smell dirty. Nice texture on the palate, but little else going for it; no fruit and lots of dry tannin. Dry and bitter aftertaste, but a sweet and slightly fiery finish. Not a typical showing and probably slightly contaminated by TCA flattening a normally fine, fruity port. NR
