TN: 1996 Dow Quinta do Bomfim Vintage Port

Decant: 26 hours - Deep red in colour, still opaque in the centre but showing a nice magenta rim. A delightful nose of blackcurrants, but with an interesting herbaceous note. Medium bodied in texture and flavour; lots of fruit but a strong streak of acidity. Tannins have faded back, but are still quite distinct; but not a lot of complexity. A touch of burn on swallowing and the finish is slow to develop but reassuringly slow to fade. Reasonable port, but try again in 5 years time. 86 points
