TN: 1941 Constantino Vintage Port

Decant: 4 hours - Until the early '50s, Crasto was the core of the Constantino port house with Miguel Roquette's grandfather being forced to sell Constantino to Ferreira through a shortage of funds. The only part of Constantino which remained in family hands was Crasto. This was a port which was vinified by Miguel's great-grandfather. Deep brown-red colour, almost the colour of brown caramel and with a touch of green on the rim. Nose full of caramel and dates but also with some secondary fruit. In the mouth the wine is medium bodied and is stuffed full of redcurrant fruit and lively secondary flavours - with maraschino cherries and a whole medley of other flavours. An enormous aftertaste, very big and very long. An astonishing wine to drink. 95 points
