TN: 1963 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 7½ hours - Bottled by Corney & Barrow; decanted cleanly of a large amount of very heavy sediment. Pale red, very light centre, distinctly orange on the rim. Spicy nose - nutmegs and marzipan and others found marzipan. Oddly woody entry, dry and biting. Working it in the mouth brings out coriander and black pepper mixed in with dried citrus zest. Lots of layers and complexity but a big burn on swallowing. A nice immediate follow up but this fades quickly to leave sticky lips and a faint residual flavour that does linger. This is not a good example of this port and is very disappointing. 82 points
