Decant: 32 hours double decanted - One of the bottles acquired from Wadebridge Wines, whoa cquired them from Noval's agent in the UK a few years ago. Deepest in colour of the six wines from 1994 on show this evening, on a par with the Graham 1994, with the colour solid into the rim. Slightly bitter-sweet on the nose, with lots of sharp quince and peppery basil. Initially quite light in the mouth, but with a smooth and silky texture. Closed on the palate, with dry tannins and an unripe grapefruit pith undertone in the mid-palate and very subdued fruit. At first, showing little on the mid palate, but work and aeration brings out some subtle flavours. A massive aftertaste, huge in volume and with wonderful length. Gives the impression of finally being closed. One to tuck away and leave in peace for at least 5-10 years over which time it will hopefully pull itself back together. 90-92. 90 points
