Decant: 2 hours - All Croft vintage ports were single quinta vintage ports sourced from Roeda until their acquisition by the Taylor Fladgate Partnership (per Adrian Bridge). Croft felt that the grapes at Roeda in 1997 were of an earlier maturing nature and so decided to declare their wine as a single quinta wine and not a full Croft vintage port. This wine showed a good, strong colour with a slight fade on the rim and a centre which was just transparent. Open on the nose, with attractive tart blueberries. Silky in texture, lighter bodied and very elegant with the fruit dominant over the acidity and the tannins in the wine showing as very gentle. Lovely fruity development across the palate. Slightly hollow on the aftertaste and a long, tart, blackcurrant finish. A lovely soft elegance to this wine. 88 points
