Decant: 9 hours - Bottled by Mitcheltombs & Sons of Chard. A bottle shown at the pre-sale tasting at Bonhams. The lowest fill level from two parcels of 18 and 12 bottles respectively. No labels or markings on the bottles other than the UK bottlers' name in the moulding on the seal. The bottles look old and are 3 part moulded with uneven necks and dimpled surfacing.
The wine was very pale in colour (and full of sediment), looking like a honey and lemon drink with a greening rim. A beautiful and delicate nose soared from the glass just inviting you to sit and take in the scent of roses and violets. Sadly the flavours in the mouth did not compare to the nose and I wonder if the sediment was obscuring the delicate flavours. Even more sadly, there was not enough left to be able to take a second sip to re-evaluate the flavour of the wine or to properly judge the aftertaste.
