Decant: 8 hours - Lighter than the 1985 shown alongside, centre nicely coloured but easily transparent. Floral on the nose, with sweet and sour cranberries. Lovely entry, starts softly and grows to fill the mouth with sweet raspberry fruit. Gentle acidity and gentle tannins. The aftertaste keeps the same elegant structure of the older wines and has a very good length, followed by a delightful second phase of chocolate and cherry. Probably absolutely at its peak. 89 points
